The Ralph Stein book, Treasury of the Automobile, which described the Alfa 1750 as “the best cornering car in the world,” got Joe Faherty hooked on Alfas. With an MGA and Mini-Cooper S for college and a first year FIAT 124 Spider while in Pilot Training, his first Alfa, a 1970 SPICA 1750 GTV, was procured on his return from Vietnam. After transfer to McChord AFB WA, the 1750 GTV was traded for a red 2000 GTV, which he still owns and is preparing for vintage racing, along with his fourth Milano, a Verde.
